Maria Gimenez Cavallo was born in New York in 1992. After graduating from Columbia University in 2010 with honors in Italian, Film and French Studies, Cavallo moved to Paris, where she collaborated with Abdellatif Kechice on the film “Mektoub, My Love: Canto Uno. She then moved to Rome to work on the film Futura, a documentary shot on 16 mm that was screened at the Cannes Quinzaine 2021. Cavallo has made a number of short fiction and documentary films that depict rural traditions, including the film the Little Shepherdess, which was shortlisted at the Cannes Quinzaine in 2020.
In Foça Film Days 2021, her film "The Walking Forest" is selected for screening.
