Özgür Yasak was born in the village of Karacasöğüt in Marmaris, Muğla. After graduating high school, he began his studies at the Department of Film and Television of Beykent University’s Faculty of Fine Arts. Although still a student, Yasak has made a number of short films that have been shown in festival competitions in both Turkey and internationally. His short doc The Master Without an Apprentice has been featured in nearly a dozen festivals and won several awards. He is also the author of a novel, ‘Her Seyir Kendi Defterini Seçer’, and a volume of poetry, ‘Ben Hep Geceleri Sevdim’ .
