Stephanus Domanig

Born in 1967 in South Tyrol / Italy, Stephanus Domanig attended the Film Academy Vienna, where he graduated with a degree in film directing. Domanig is well known for writing and directing feature-length documentaries that delve into the lives of creative and courageous artists, including the 2014 documentary For My Sisters (2014), which traces the lives of jazz singers Alberta Hunter, Sarah Vaughan and Nina Simone. Domanig’s documentary series have aired on the television channels Arte and 3sat/ZDF. He currently lives and works with his family in Vienna and in the Waldviertel.

His film “Backstage at the Vienna Opera” was selected for screening at Foça Film Days 2022.
